The Lions kick off their three-match overseas tour in Canberra where they face the Brumbies in the GIO Stadium.

Brumbies scrumhalf Joe Powell will play his 50th Super Rugby match for the franchise when they host a Lions team looking to return to the top of the South African conference.

The Lions were bumped off the top with a thud when the Sharks mauled them 42-5 at Ellis Park last Friday.

The Brumbies are some way adrift of the Rebels who top the Aussie conference which has been as unpredictable as the SA section. They have every chance of hauling in the Rebels or at least securing one of the other playoff spots.

Lions Centre Lionel Mapoe also celebrates a milestone this weekend, he plays his 100th Super Rugby match for the Lions.
