The Stormers will look to break their duck in their Australasian tour without the services of captain Siya Kolisi, who has been flown home to rest ahead of their last match Down Under.
The men from the Cape take on the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday, in search of their first win on tour.
They will have to do so without the experience of the flanker, who has been excused from the squad, following on what had been agreed between the Springboks and the franchise.
Kolisi joins Bok duo, Eben Etzebeth, who both flew back to Cape Town ahead of the eighth round of Super Rugby fixtures.
This leaves the Stormers squad severely depleted, with two more key players ruled out of Friday’s clash through injury.
Fullback SP Marais will miss the fixture after sustaining a hip flexor injury and has been replaced by centre Dan Kriel, while lock Chris van Zyl is also unavailable to start after picking up a back injury. His replacement is hooker Chad Solomons.

The Stormers have gone three matches without a win and find themselves occupying the basement in the South African Conference.
Prior to embarking on their tour Down Under, Robbie Fleck’s men had gone on a three-match winning streak which was halted by a defeat to the Hurricanes in Wellington, before two more negative results against the Blues and the Reds respectively.
