Stellenbosch FC are set for their maiden campaign in the PSL after gaining automatic promotion to the top flight by finishing first in the National First Division.
The Cape Winelands outfit played to a goalless draw against Maccabi FC at Coetzenburg Stadium on Sunday afternoon, while their closest rivals for promotion, Royal Eagles suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ubuntu Cape Town.
This was after the two sides went into the final day separated by only two points, with Stellenbosch needing to win to snuff out any chance of being unseated at the last minute, having led the second tier throughout most of the campaign.
The results mean that Eagles will contest the promotion/relegation playoffs alongside third-placed Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila, plus whichever side finishes 15th in the PSL.
Meanwhile, Ajax Cape Town – who were relegated from the top flight at the end of the 2017/18 season – will have to spend yet another year in the second tier, despite emerging victorious in their final match.
The Urban Warriors beat Mbombela United 2-0, but only managed a fourth place finish behind Tshakuma, who registered a similar result over Richards Bay to pip Ajax by just one goal.
