Ryan Moon finds himself in limbo after his Kaizer Chiefs exit, and could be headed back to familiar territory, KickOff reports.

The striker was one of several players released by Kaizer Chiefs after a woeful 2018/19 season, and is on the search for a new club.

Having made the move from Maritzburg United to Naturena, where he enjoyed game time under ex-mentor Steve Komphela, Moon found the going harder under each of the former Bafana skipper’s successor’s Giovanni Solinas and Ernst Middendorp before being shown the door.

Still 22, the lanky marksman has more than enough time to relaunch what was once a very promising career, and told KickOff that a return to his old club is not completely out of the question.

“I’m still weighing up my options as there are clubs that have shown interest in me.

“About Maritzburg United, it’s always good to know the chairman is interested in you even though they haven’t spoken to me directly, so I wouldn’t like to comment on that.

“I’m grateful to every team I’ve played for, I’ve learned a lot from them. For now I will focus on deciding which club should I join, probably in two weeks I will know.”

Ryan Moon

Moon made just three senior appearances at Maritzburg United before catching the eye of Chiefs scouts, who lured him to the Glamour Boys in 2016.

With Komphela at the helm, the striker had a breakthrough season in the 2017/18 campaign, scoring four league goals in 13 matches, and earning both his national caps to date.

However, he could not continue where he left off after the coach’s unceremoniously departure, as he featured sporadically last season, making just 13 appearances without finding the back of the net.
