Orlando Pirates remain in the title race despite enduring a frustrating campaign marked by dropped points and missed opportunities.

A win against Polokwane City guarantees nothing for Pirates who need a big favour from relegation threatened Free State Stars.

Polokwane City have enjoyed a solid season and have secured a place in the top eight, there is little at stake for them but they will not be pushovers.

Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic singled out Thembinkosi Lorch as his pick for the Buccaneers player of the season when asked by the media who would get his vote.

“If you ask me as a coach, I will say Thembinkosi Lorch because he has contributed the most to the team, “Micho told IOL.

“However, any coach will look at who is the best player in his team.

“When I look at everything, we have a tremendous, amazing group of good human beings.

“We have players who are playing with heart and fighting for the badge of the club.

“They are giving everything.”

The coach would add that Ben Motshwari was the most improved .

“Ben has proved this season that he is a good player. He has improved tremendously,”

Four wins on the trot seemed to have set Pirates on course for the PSL title but a late equalizer in the Mother City last weekend took their fate out of their own hands.

Polokwane City head coach Jozef Vukusic revealed on Friday that injuries could force him to field fringe players in the contest but he insisted they were taking the match seriously.

“Ja, let’s see, let’s see. Yes we have some guys, they are good, I would like to see them but we know that this is no easy game, so I don’t take that game only like that, no,” Vukusic told KickOff.com.

“Yes of course we have our challenges in the team, some players are injured. But I don’t want to complain so any players they will play for our team. I take it like a normal game and there will be enough experience on the field, and enough players who played the whole season so it’s not only like that we go for the holiday there, no. Puleng and Nkili are injured.”
