It’s the final round of PSL fixtures for the season and each of the 16 top flight teams has something to play for.

The 2018/19 campaign has been a tightly-contested affair, and it’s set to go down to the wire, not only as far as the title race is concerned, but with a fierce relegation battle as well.

Mamelodi Sundowns are in pole position going into the final day, having opened up a two-point gap between them and Orlando Pirates.

The defending champions will look to avoid a costly last-minute slip-up as they travel to Bethlehem for a clash against the relegation-threatened Free State Stars at Goble Park.

The Buccaneers, on the other hand, no longer have their fate in their hands following a draw in their last outing and will, at the very least, look to consolidate second place, which will see them qualify for the Caf Champions League – while hoping Sundowns fluff their lines.

The Soweto giants host Polokwane City at Orlando Stadium, while third-placed Bidvest Wits – who are out of the title race – can finish as runners-up at best as they travel to meet Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium.

The battle for a coveted top-eight spot is just as close, and features Kaizer Chiefs who trek down to Port Elizabeth for an encounter with relegation candidates, Chippa United.

A defeat for Amakhosi could see them slip down from the top half of the table while, for their opponents, even a draw could see them back in the first division.

Other key fixtures that will draw attention include the clash between bottom-feeders Maritzburg United, who will look to escape the drop zone and possibly drag Baroka – who they meet – down to the promotion/relegation playoffs.

Black Leopards are another side facing the chop, and will be aiming to stay afloat as they host Cape Town City at Thohoyandou Stadium.
