The PSL is back in full swing this coming week, kicking off with a host of midweek fixtures.
Orlando Pirates remain on top of the league standings, but the gap between them and their nearest competitor has halved, following Mamelodi Sundowns’ victory over the weekend, which saw them climb to second place, just three points from the summit.
The defending champions also have a game in hand, and kick off proceedings with a rare Tuesday afternoon fixture against Chippa United at Loftus Versfeld.
Two more games follow on the night, with Kaizer Chiefs also at home to Lamontville Golden Arrows, following contrasting fortunes in Nedbank Cup action for the two sides over the weekend.
The day’s other fixture pits sixth against eighth as Cape Town City battle it out against Highlands Park at Cape Town Stadium.
Wednesday night’s action starts at 18:00 with the battle against the chop between 13th placed Free State Stars and Baroka, who dropped to 15th following the defeat to Sundowns.
Another team desperate to avoid the drop is Maritzburg United, and they will have their work cut out for them as they welcome Orlando Pirates to Harry Gwala Stadium.
AmaZulu are also dangerously close to the red zone, and will be hoping for three points against Supersport United, while Polokwane City will look to hang on to a top-eight spot with a win against Bloemfontein Celtic.
