There’s some catching up to do for a few clubs in the PSL, and the upcoming midweek fixtures presents a chance for them to gain some valuable ground.
Orlando Pirates are six points clear at the top of the log, thanks to three wins on the bounce, with Mamelodi Sundowns not only trailing in the points column, but also in terms of matches played.
This is due to their involvement in the Caf Champions League, where they are set to resume their growing rivalry with Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in the semifinals.
But before that, Brazilians return to their league title defence, and have one of their biggest foes to square up to in Tshwane rivals Supersport United on Wednesday night.
The match is one of two scheduled for the day, as the other one features a match which had to be postponed in the early days of April due to tragedy.
Following Free State Stars player, Sinethemba Jantjie’s untimely passing, the club had to put on hold their visit to Thembisa, where they were set to play Highlands Park on Saturday, 6 April.
The two sides were back in action over the past weekend, where they registered contrasting results, with the Lions of the North triumphing against the struggling Maritzburg United, while Ea Lla Koto succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Pirates.
They finally meet on Wednesday with Highlands Park almost ensured of another season in the top flight, while Stars remain desperate to avoid the chop.
