With the season concluded and all trophies that were on order nicely packed away in the deserving teams’ cabinets, players and coaches alike have a chance to bask in a bit of individual glory in the latest instalment of the PSL awards.

The prestigious event takes place in Durban’s International Convention Centre (ICC) on Sunday night, a day after the 2018/19 season concluded in dramatic fashion with a tense Nedbank Cup final in the same city.

Eleven awards are up for grabs, with Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompo Kekana nominated three times and Orlando Pirates’ Thembinkosi Lorch headlining the list with four nominations.

The duo will be squaring off for three of those accolades, as they are up for Footballer of the Season, Midfielder of the Season and the prestigious Players’ Player of the Season.

The fierce battle for the title between the Soweto giants and their Tshwane counterparts is reflected in the nominees list, as the two men at the helm of either side, Milutin Sredojevic and Pitso Mosimane are both up for Coach of the Season, alongside Cape Town City’s Benni McCarthy, who’s side lifted the MTN 8 trophy.

Others in line for big accolades include TS Galaxy hero Zakhele Lepasa, who is nominated for Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament, as well as an award for the competition’s most promising player.
