Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has taken to social media following his side’s third-place finish at the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar on Thursday, 11 February.
The Egyptian giants, who represented Africa at the tournament following their CAF Champions League triumph, beat Brazil side Palmeiras 3-2 on penalties to claim the bronze medal after the match finished goalless after 90 minutes.
Post-match, the official FIFA Club World Cup 2020 Twitter account congratulated Al Ahly on their victory and the way in which they represented Africa.
Pitso Mosimane responded to that post with, “Not the medal we wished to get, but a realistic one. We should be humble and appreciate getting a medal for Africa. We shall be back next year and fight for an upgrade.”
By “upgrade” one can only assume Pitso Mosimane is aiming for gold, rather than silver …
