Pakistan vs South Africa has turned into a desperate scrap for World Cup survival playing out at the home of cricket.

Aiden Markram has said that the Proteas are looking to draw inspiration from Sri Lanka’s heroics.

Wahab Riaz, on the other hand, feels that Pakistan play better when they are under pressure.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first, they will no doubt be looking to make the most of the Proteas inability to cope with pressure.

“I was going to bowl first anyway, so good toss to lose,” Proteas Skipper Faf du Plessis said at the toss.

The Proteas have named an unchanged side from the one that narrowly lost to New Zealand last time out.

Pakistan have made two changes with Haris Sohail replacing the out of sorts Shoaib Malik while Shaheen Afridi, who did so well in South Africa earlier this year, comes in for Hasan Ali.

“Looks like a good batting pitch and some grass cover on it,” Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed said. “We are not thinking about the pressure, just focusing on the game, which is very important for us. Haris Sohail and Shaheen in, Shoaib Malik and Hasan Ali out.”

The ground is almost entirely full of Pakistan supporters there to back their ailing team. Both sides have just one win to their name and beyond their slim hopes of a semi-final are playing to restore their battered pride.
