Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Andriamirado “Dax” Andrianarimanana was handed his first start under Ernst Middendorp as he made the starting XI in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash against Cape Town City on Sunday.

The Madagascar international last featured for the Glamour Boys in the 3-2 win over Highlands Park in February, where he came on in the last half hour of the contest.

Since joining the club prior to the 2018/19 season, he has made just one start – against Black Leopards in November 2018.

Dax lines up alongside George Maluleka in the centre of the midfield, while Pule Ekstein, Khama Billiat and Bernard Parker make up the Chiefs frontline.

There was no place in the starting XI for Colombian striker Leonardo Castro, who slots in the bench alongside veteran midfielder, Willard Katsande.

There were no major surprises in the Citizens camp, besides the omission of the club’s leading goal scorer, Siphelele Mthembu.
