Orlando Pirates may have nothing to show for their efforts in the recently-concluded season, but coach Milutin Sredojevic.has given a generally positive review of their campaign.
The Soweto giants finished second behind Mamelodi Sundowns in the league after failed cup campaigns – the closest to silverware they got being the Telkom Knockout, where they were stunned by Baroka in the final via a penalty shootout.
In what was his second season on his return to the club, “Micho” noted an improvement from the previous season where they also finished as runners up, and has promised an improvement going into the 2018/19 season.
“To look at‚ and to put critically‚ what was wrong‚ and that needs to be drastically corrected. What was right needs to be kept up and also progressed and improved.
“We have had a wonderful season. However, it is not enough for the standard of Orlando Pirates.
“One thing is for sure – Orlando Pirates will be much‚ much better next season than they have been this season.
“If‚ as I talk perfection where 10 out of 10 would not exist‚ I would go somewhere to look at this season as somewhere around seven-and-a-half. I hope I am realistic in that.”
Pirates’ second-place finish secured a club participation in the Caf Champions League for the second season running, having previously been absent from the competition for five years prior to Micho’s arrival.
