The penultimate stage of the World Rugby Sevens series kicked off on Saturday with the London leg of the competition providing multiple thrills… as expected.

USA, South Africa, Fiji and Ireland all cracked top spots in their respective pools while three of those nations are still battling it out for the overall title, while the other side, Ireland, are almost a sure bet for the next edition of the competition.

The capacity crowd that gathered in Twickenham for day one cannot complain about being starved of competition, as the stars brought their A-game once more, as expected.

A day for the speedsters

Jet hoes were the order of the day once more with Fiji’s Alasio Naduva one of the players to show pristine pair of heels in the famous Twickenham on Saturday.r

Flowing blonde locks

As it’s expected in the opening day in every leg of the World Series, a good-old thumping, and Japan suffered the worst of these at the hands of defending champions South Africa.

The East Asian nation is fighting for survival as part of the core in the competition, but it’s chances weren’t helped by the dismal showing displayed end route to a 49-0 defeat to a side looking to retain its title.

Werner Kok was one of the players to cross the line as the Blitzboks signalled their intentions early on.
