Saturday sees Cape Town City make a trek along the coast to square off against Golden Arrows.
The two sides come off contrasting results in cup action, with Abafana Besthende on a high after inching past Bloemfontein Celtic while the visitors were denied a semi-final spot by Kaizer Chiefs.
However, the Citizens can be consoled by still being in the running for the league title, as they currently sit fourth on the log, four points behind leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns.
A win on Saturday is guaranteed to bump them up a spot in the table, as at least one of Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates – who face off against each other on Saturday – is set to drop points.
Coach Benni McCarthy has noted the shift in focus, and is not too deflated by the recent Nedbank Cup exit.
“We shake it off and it’s back to training to prepare for Golden Arrows,” he said after the semi-final.
“In the league we are still sitting nicely for all four teams. We can’t surrender now.”
While the men from the Mother City are gunning for the big prize, Steve Komphela’s men have their sights set on a top-eight finish, as they currently occupy tenth place.
His assistant, Mandla Ncikazi believes the right mindset will have the men in green sitting pretty come the end of the season.
“We are very hungry as a team. We will go to the games with the right mindset,” he is quoted by KickOff.
“We need top eight and also Nedbank Cup. So every match for Golden Arrows is a must win.”
