Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal each contribute two players to the top ten Premier League goalscorers this season with Mohamed Salah sitting atop the board at the start of the final day.

Salah will become the sixth player to win the golden boot in successive seasons and the second from Liverpool after Michael Owen completed the feat in the 97/98 and 98/99 seasons if he can ward off his challengers.

Injury ensured two-time winner Harry Kane wasn’t in the shake up for the award on the final day. The Spurs and England star managed 17 Premier goals before an ankle injury ended his season.

Chasing Salah for final day glory on 20 goals each were Manchester City’s
Sergio Agüero, Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane.

Three of the top four players are African internationals who are expected to turn out for their countries at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt during the off-season.

The best of the home grown English talent is Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy who has tallied 18 goals for the Foxes this campaign. Right behind Vardy though is the red-hot Raheem Sterling who has really kicked on in the second half of the season. That and the possible return of Harry Kane bodes well for England’s hopes in the Nations League finals in Portugal.

The top striker in the bottom half of the table has been Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson with 14 goals, the Cherries centre forward also has ten assists to his name.
