Mamelodi Sundowns are looking to take a step closer to a second Caf Champions League crown as they host Wydad Casablanca in the second leg of their semifinal tie at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
The Brazilians are at a slight disadvantage, having conceded a 2-1 defeat in the away leg, but will be buoyed by the away goal which puts them in better stead than the position they would have been in had they conceded a clean sheet.
That clean sheet is exactly what they will be eyeing on home soil, as just even a single goal from the visitors would complicate their path into the final.
In Sundowns’ previous engagement, coach Pitso Mosimane picked what was almost a full-strength team as the men from the capital registered a 2-1 victory over Black Leopards to keep their domestic title chances alive.
Only three players from the clash in Rabat were missing from the starting XI, with defender Rivaldo Coetzee operating in the unfamiliar position of defensive midfield, where he gave a solid showing in place of Tiyani Mabunda, while Lebobang Maboe was left out in place of Sibusiso Vilakazi.
At the back, Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascimento was also given a rest, with Wayne Arendse slotting in alongside Mosa Lebusa.
No wholesale changes are expected again this time around, and Mosimane could revert back to the men who did duty in Morocco.
