Kelly Khumalo says she is prepared to fight until her last to clear her name from the murder of former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa.

It has been five years since the football star was murdered in his home, in what was termed as an armed robbery gone horribly wrong.

Senzo Meyiwa case gets a boost with impending arrests

However, investigators have announced a breakthrough in the case and, shockingly, it seems like there will be arrests made in connection with the murder.

As reported by Sowetan Live, at least four well-known public figures face imminent prosecution for defeating the ends of justice in Meyiwa’s murder.

It is believed that the investigating team has uncovered evidence that ties these unidentified suspects to the goalkeeper’s killing.

Moreover, murmurs from the justice and security cluster have revealed that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) will issue out warrants of arrest for the targeted suspects once all the evidence has been collected by investigators.

“They had hoped to arrest the suspects by the end of this week. But it can happen any time soon as they believe they have a winnable case against the suspects,” a source told the referenced publication.

Kelly Khumalo on the defence about involvement in murder

Khumalo, who was not listed as one of the suspects, felt pressured to address the situation. The singer was involved romantically with the married goalkeeper at the time of his death.

In fact, the alleged armed robbery and subsequent murder of Meyiwa occurred at her residence in Vosloorus, Gauteng.

Since then, the court of public opinion has always found her guilty of being involved in the goalkeeper’s murder, in some capacity.

Khumalo would have none of it, though. She took to social media to address the news about the impending arrests.

“I’m not going to sit back and let you abuse and accuse me of something I have nothing to do with. I have co-operated with the law, gave all the necessary information. If there’s one thing I will never do is take the fall for something I know nothing about. I will fight till my last breath because that’s who I am,” she said.

Her lengthy Instagram statement was in defence of her honour. She vowed to fight till the very end to clear her name of all speculation levelled against her.
