With the dust all but settled on the final election results, it’s time to reflect on what has been a bruising campaign for some, but a source of genuine excitement for others. The EFF certainly fall into the latter category, after they made a huge impression at the polls and increased their share of the votes across the board.

Whichever way you look at their results, progress has certainly been achieved by the red berets. They may not have pulled off a shock election victory, but their provincial stats tell you everything you need to know about the public’s increasing appetite for Julius Malema and co.

Provincially speaking, the red berets are on fire

In six years of existence, they’ve gone from minor irritation to a serious problem for their cross-party rivals. One of the biggest head-turners from these election results comes from Mpumalanga, where the EFF have replaced the DA as the official opposition in the province.

Meanwhile, they’ve practically doubled their support in the Eastern, Western and Northern Capes and they’ve improved on their total votes in KZN five-fold. Here’s how the EFF performed in your neck of the woods:
