Make no mistake, the Orlando Stadium was rocking on Sunday afternoon, as Julius Malema took to the stage for the EFF Rally in Soweto. This was the party’s final address before judgement day on Wednesday, as South Africans go to the polls to make their voices heard.

Always an entertainer, Juju strayed into some pretty questionable territory when he called on the police to shoot Ace Magashule – you can read more about that here.

However, his hour-long address very much managed to fire his supporters up ahead of election day. We’ve picked out the best quotes from the event, and he’s even dared the president to talk about the “cabinet positions” he allegedly offered to Malema and other leaders of the EFF.

EFF rally – Julius Malema’s most important quotes

Juju pays tribute to his grandmother

“My Grandmother would have wanted me to be here. She left me in the good hands of the ground forces of the EFF. I am not an orphan, not when I’m a father of so many children. My family appreciate all the condolences. She meant everything to me. Without her, I would be nothing.

“The ANC is shaking”

“The ANC is shaking in all of the provinces. Because of what our comrades are. They are shaking ME and Natal are showing us flames, with its unexpected growth. We’re proud of fighters in the Western Cape. The racist DA are shaking there, too.”

Forget Madiba, EFF claim they are “the future”

“What shocks me is the number of elderly who are here in support of the EFF. The EFF Gogos know that Mandela is no more. They know he is resting peacefully in Qunu. They know the younger generation is now in the EFF.”

Cyril needs a pension

“Ramaphosa and his colleagues are all too old. They must go to an old age home or go to prison.”

Julius Malema explains economic freedom

“We want you to be able to receive a bond from FNB after you are done voting, whether you are black or not, they should not charge you more because of your skin colour. Why are the farm owners white only? When we say economic freedom, we mean black people own productive farms.”

Double the amount received for social grants and pensions

“We want to double the money for the elderly and that of children that receive social grants. We want a proper crèche where there is a settlement. We want a clinic that operates 24hrs. We want free education.”

Julius Malema demands more action on free education

“The EFF will give you free education, with no registration fees. For as long as you are academically deserving, you must enter. Your matric result is better than money – let it secure you a seat university. We want an educated nation. We must send millions to graduation day. The first, second and third solutions to poverty is education.”

See past the t-shirts

“The ANC want to turn South Africa into a zombified nation. They want to buy your support with an RDP house. We are compromised by a love of t-shirts. When the elections come, you forget. South Africa, let us vote for the hope of the hopeless masses of our people.”

Julius Malema on Alex

“The ANC has forgotten about the poor people in Alexandra. We no longer want mobile toilets, we want flushing toilets at Winnie Mandela squatter camp. The people of Alex, the children are being eaten by rats.”

Things turn sour with “shoot Magashule” directive

“Go and shoot the real criminals. Not us, the people who are demanding justice. We don’t want blood-thirsty police, if you want to shoot, go to Luthuli House and shoot Ace Magashule. If you want to shoot, go to Parliament and shoot the house which is full of criminals.”

“Are you looking for criminals? I have given you their names. Go and arrest the bastards! Zuma is number one, then you must arrest Ramaphosa for Marikana. He must be in Sun City prison. That’s where he deserves to be!”

Juju opens the door to white voters

“We want economic freedom even for white people. We have a problem with older white people, who do not want equality. Young white people, you must find a home within the EFF if you are also fighting for equality.”

White privilege is the enemy

“We are not fighting against white people, we are fighting against white privilege, we are fighting against white arrogance. We are not fighting for black people to oppress white people.”

Julius Malema has a message for non-voters

“Stop listening to the people who are saying they are not voting, those who are not voting are ANC people because they want to make it a general problem, it is not our problem. You must vote.”

Juju has a dare for Cyril Ramaphosa

“Why would I say Ramaphosa had offered us cabinet positions if he hadn’t done so? I dare him to publicly deny that he has said this: It was not the ANC who offered this to us, it was Cyril – we will only be in cabinet not because of favour, but because of EFF performance only.”
