Highgate; no it’s not the ancestral home of one of those feuding families from Game of Thrones. We’re talking about Highgate Hotel, who managed to get some guerilla advertising out just in time for the upcoming elections next month.
Some clever folks at in the hotel’s marketing department decided that the sudden influx of party posters on every available pole was an opportunity to good to pass up.
The team created advertisements for their hotel using party
The hotel created their own version of the posters with their take on the DA poster boasting that they have enough room for all.
There EFF inspired offering sporting a rather delicious looking burger with ‘Fresh from the soil’ as the tag line.
Their homage to the ruling party’s campaign material inviting one and all to take a trip with ‘Let’s go to Highgate together’.
The most creative of the lot, though, is probably the FF+ poster which plays a bit fast and loose with its Afrikaans usage. The poster instructs passersby to ‘Slaan brakes’.
Of course, making copies of the political party’s promotional materials is not allowed, and the hotel was asked to remove their posters. Though I’m not sure if this was due to non-adherence to by-laws or an IEC regulation.
Either way, through the wonders of social media, were able to enjoy the fruits of their
“Wooow! Creative, strategic and brilliant with some
humour… Did you get the Nandos guy for your ads??”
