A man who was filmed talking about his dislike of white people while working at the Bedfordview Licensing Department has officially been fired for the outburst. The City of Ekurhuleni confirmed the dismissal over the weekend after a case of crimen injuria was opened against the employee.
Bedfordview racist ranter fired
In a video which went viral last week, the unnamed ranter became agitated after he was asked a question by someone in the queue. According to the Bedfordview Edendale News, it was Gavin Sharples who eventually confronted the man, and asked to speak to his supervisor:
“He said, ‘You white people, I don’t like you’. I asked to speak to his supervisor while he continued making racist remarks in front of his supervisor. All the supervisor said was I should put a complaint in writing and submit it.”
Gavin’s wife began recording the incident after the back-and-forth got a little heated. Things only got worse from there, prompting the man to tell the customers: “you white people, I don’t like you”. As Sharples entered to speak to the supervisor, the worker repeated his disdain for whites:

Charges of crimen injuria were filed against the man. The term is used to refer to people who have had their dignity “impaired”, usually as part of a hate speech or racial incident. The likes of Vicki Momberg and Adam Catzavelos have also been charged on these grounds.
