In an interview with British Vogue’s editor-in-chief Edward Enniful, Beyonce revealed that she has two actual beehives with around 80 000 bees that she keeps at her home.

In an interview with British Vogue, Beyonce said: “I know it’s random, but I have two beehives. Real ones.”

Unfortunately, Queen Bey does not keep her beehives to honour her fanbase, the Beyhive.

She started the beekeeping for the natural healing properties of the honey produced by the bees, that help with both her daughters, Blue and Rumi’s allergies.

“I’ve had them at my house for a while now. I have around 80,000 bees and we make hundreds of jars of honey a year.

“I started the beehives because my daughters, Blue and Rumi, both have terrible allergies, and honey has countless healing properties,” Beyonce told British Vogue.

British Vogue cover sizzle

The star’s interview was accompanied by three cover shoots for the December 2020 issue of British Vogue. The cover shoot made history as the photographer, 21-year-old Kennedi Carter became the youngest person to shoot a British Vogue cover in the magazine’s 104-year history.

The music icon’s outfits did not disappoint.

Her lingerie-shapewear-sportswear hybrid had been in development since December 2017 when Thierry Mugler handed over the reigns of the Mugler house to Casey Cadawallader who is now the creative director of Mugler.

According to Vogue the elastic-nylon mesh bodysuit is made up of 64 panels and took over 100 hours to sew.

In another cover shot, the 39-year-old wore a lime green Ivy Park x Adidas catsuit from the Drip 2 collection.

The new Ivy Park Collection

Ivy Park is an activewear brand for women co-founded by Beyonce in 2016. At the end of October this year, Beyonce x Adidas launched their second collection of activewear, Drip 2.

The fashion icon told British Vogue that during quarantine, fashion was her escape and together with her children came up with a weekly family tradition called Fashion Fridays. Every Friday, they would dress up in her clothes and take pictures of one another.

This tradition was the inspiration behind her latest Ivy Park collection.

This year, has been quite busy for the mother of three as she dropped the visual album Black is King in late July, for Disney’s Lion King: The Gift.

The album was a project close to home, being partly shot in Johannesburg and KwaZulu-Natal where the women of the Himba tribe were filmed. Black is King was also filmed in Nigeria, Ghana, London and Los Angeles.

The album serves as a love letter to Africa shedding light on the beauty of the continent and has been described as “a celebratory memoir for the world on the black experience”.
