Titan is a South African bicycle brand which has significantly
overhauled its product portfolio in the last few years.
Offering a comprehensive range of bicycles, from kids rides
to carbon road bikes, the Stellenbosch domiciled company’s latest offering is a
very impressive product called the Valerian.
Available in two levels grades (Pro and Elite), the Valerian
road bikes offer contemporary aesthetics and technical details, at an accessible
Titan’s product philosophy is to attempt parity between affordability
With the Valerian range it offers advanced carbon-fibre
frame and fork construction, with the chassis weighing a very competitive 1500grams.
The overall design aesthetic is remarkably clean too, with the Valerian featuring internal cable routing to achieve an attractive look and improve aerodynamics. This is achieved by hiding the bike’s gear- and brake-cables within the frame.
On trend design
Distinguishing the Pro and Elite models are the colours and
group sets. Titan’s Valerian Pro is finished in red and equipped with Shimano’s
Ultegra groupset, whilst the Elite is stealth black and rolls Shimano’s 105
road bike group. The Pro model also has a carbon-fibre seatpost and it’s ready
to ride (or race) weight is 8.65kg.
Keeping in touch with the latest trends in cycling design, the
Valerian bikes are fitted out with disc brakes, instead of conventional rim
brakes, which have been the standard on road bikes for decades.
Disc brakes have more stopping power, better modulation and
superior performance in wet conditions, improving safety when riding out in the
rain or after a downpour when roads are still wet.
Both the Pro and Elite Valerians models are available in
five different sizes, ranging from 47- to 59cm. These bikes also carry a
five-year multi-user warranty.
Titan has positioned the Valerian Pro at R33 999 and
the Elite at R24 999, which are competitive prices for carbon-fibre road
bikes of their specification.
