Noodles, a delicious pairing with so many options that recipes are unlimited. Did you know that noodles go as far back as 4000 years? Neither did I, but that just proves my point that they truly are delectable and thankfully, now everyone knows about them so they can be enjoyed world-wide.

In this article we look at making super quick and easy Asian-inspired noodles. This meal makes for a delicious lunch or dinner to serve just yourself or your entire family.

China, a noodle-loving country

However, getting back to the noodles and their roots, it’s also quite interesting to note that noodles are an essential ingredient and staple in China for most of the population.

From Lo Mein, Chow Mein, rice noodles to fried noodles the noodle is a versatile ingredient. It can be adapted to go with whatever you have in your pantry. Therefore making it one of the foods lending itself to an endless amount of recipes to be made, loved and shared around the globe.

Asian-inspired Peanut and Soy-marinated Pork with Noodles

This meal is inexpensive, quick to make and so delicious. Transform Two-minute noodles into a gourmet dish with just a few ingredients and voila! Asian-inspired noodles.

Ingredients

  • 400 g of Rib-eye pork – sliced

  • 1 Tbsp of soy sauce

  • 2 tsp of peanut butter

  • 1 Tbsp of olive oil

  • 1 Tbsp of crushed garlic

  • 1 Tbsp of crushed garlic

  • 1 tsp of ginger powder

  • Barbecue spice to season

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 Onion – chopped

  • 1 Pepper – chopped

  • 2 Cups of cabbage – chopped

  • 4 packets of Two-minute noodles

  • Fresh coriander for garnishing

  • Chilli flakes for garnishing

Method

  • Combine the soy sauce, peanut butter, olive oil, garlic, ginger and barbecue spice and marinate the pork for one hour.
  • Fry the pork for 15 minutes in a hot pan and add the cabbage, onion and pepper and cook for another 15 minutes until the pork is tender. Season with salt to taste.
  • Cook the noodles as per the packet instructions and add to the pork once cooked.
  • Mix the noodles and pork until combined and serve with coriander and chilli flakes.
  • Enjoy your Asian-inspired noodles!
