It feels like the type of weekend one needs to end with a movie night and lots of popcorn. M-Net brings us The Hurricane Heist in the Sunday movie spot at 20:05.

The 2018 disaster heist action film is directed by Rob Cohen. It follows a group of thieves as they plan to use a Category 5 hurricane as a cover for their bank robbery scheme.

The Hurricane Heist Plot

The rural town of New Hope has a pair of super-sized problems heading its way: A hurricane bearing down on the Gulf coastline, and a team of 30 well-armed mercenaries intent on looting the local treasury facility.

The film was initially titled Category 5, but it was changed to The Hurricane Heist during post-production. It also stars Maggie Grace from the Taken trilogy.

Critics’ reviews

Most critics didn’t hate it, but they weren’t blown away by The Hurricane Heist either. Kristin Smith from Plugged In said it definitely has the “unbelievable factor.

Michael Ordona from Common Sense Media said the movie delivers what you expect from it: “fun action sequences, genre cliches, CGI disaser effect and violence.” Zeenia Baria from the Times of India liked it:

“More than just a regular ‘save the earth’ film,’ this one combines an offbeat plot with some decent special effects to make it an interesting watch.
