After an intense week – from storms and cyclones to inquiries and rallies – it’s time to just wind down. If you plan on staying indoors on Sunday evening, M-Net dishes up Dwayne Johnson in the 20:00 movie slot.
Rampage, an American science fiction monster film with a dash of adventure, was produced by Brad Peyton. It is also loosely based on an eponymous video game.
Best quote from Rampage
We’ve created the next chapter in natural selection. Project Rampage works.
Davis Okoye shares an unshakable bond with an extraordinarily intelligent and incredibly rare albino silverback gorilla named George. They live happily together until a rogue experiment transforms the gentle George into a raging creature of enormous size.
To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals. As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye finally teams up with a discredited geneticist to secure an antidote. But will they succeed?

Critics were not impressed, although Olly Richards from Empire said “this very silly movie could actually have afforded to be a lot sillier.”
In addition, Sandie Angulo Chen from Common Sense Media added that even the “immensely likeable Johnson” could not save this video game-based adventure from its laughable premise and ridiculous dialogue.
Emily Yoshida from Vulture also shared the same sentiments. In fact, she added:
Furthermore, it’s aggressively dumb, and I’d feel safe in the assumption that everyone was in on the joke if it weren’t for the absence of any good ones.
