Critics’ reviews

Paul Byrnes from the Sydney Morning Herald said that McCarthy “has won her power the hard way and she wants to use it for the greater good.” He adds:

That’s part of what makes her the cultural icon she has become, the champion of downtrodden woman of all shapes and sizes.

Christopher Orr from The Atlantic was impressed, saying that the film “doesn’t live up to either of the nouns in the title.” Rachel Wagner from Rachel’s Reviews said she enjoyed it, and that the film supports a strong cast.
