It’s that time of the year again folks! The Johannesburg Rand Show, also known as ‘Joburg’s Best Day Out,’ takes place from 19 April to 28 April.

This year’s Rand Show also celebrates 125 years of history. The organisers are going all out to celebrate and promise to live up to their reputation of being Johannesburg’s biggest and most thrilling family-orientated event.

Rand Show venue

The event will take place at the Expo Centre in Johannesburg, on the corner of Nasrec and Rand Show Road.

Entrance fees

Tickets can be purchased from Computicket and range from R80 for children under 17, to R150 per adult. Doors open at 10:00 on Friday 19 April and parking is available.

Start times

The event will start at 10:00 from Friday 19 April through to Monday 22 April, but will start at 12:00 from Tuesday 23 April to Friday 26 April. However, doors will open at 10:00 again on Saturday 27 April and Sunday 28 April.

Rand Show highlights

The 10-day event will include exhibitions from the Science Tech Zone, Zip Zap Circus, SA’s Biggest Fitness Extravaganza, as well as the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), to name a few.

The Adventure Zone is bound to get the adrenaline pumping with games, cosplay, and Johannesburg’s very own talent search competition.

In addition, Irish sword swallower, Murray Malloy, will keep you on the edge of your seat, while the Kalahari Scientist will wow everyone in the Science and Tech Zone.

There will also be a new Gaming Entertainment Pavilion, including a Fortnite tournament with a prize pool of over R100 000 up for grabs.

The Jacaranda Clash of the Ages will give away R125 000 in prize money, while Beauty & Fitness Expo will feature some of the biggest names in the fitness industry.

The world-class World of Motoring Show will include a Motoring hall, spinning and drifting, driving course, as well as the anticipated IASCA World Record Sound Competition.

The SANDF lineup

The SANDF lineup includes supersonic jets and attack helicopters, which will do several flypasts over the main arena while the ground soldiers from the Infantry Formation will present capability demonstrations.

A highlight will be the presense of two aircraft – a Gripen from 2 Squadron at AFB Makhado, as well as a CASA C-212 Aviocar from AFB Waterkloof-based 44 Squadron.
