It is said that Netflix can officially celebrate landing one of the best ensembles in recent memory for ‘Don’t Look Up’.

Netflix and Adam McKay are giving Jennifer Lawrence quite the group of co-stars to join her in the upcoming film, Don’t Look Up.

The news, that was officially announced on Twitter by Netflix, sees a cast that is packed with a number of Academy Award-winning actors and actresses as well as two Grammy Award-winning music icons.

Yes, it is said that Leonardo DiCaprio. Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry and Tomer Sisley are joining this ensemble that also includes the previously announced Rob Morgan and Jennifer Lawrence. The American film and television writer, director and producer, McKay, who served as head writer for the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, will write, direct and co-produce along with Kevin Messick under McKay’s Hyperobject Industries Banner.

McKay and Messick have worked together on a number of films including The Other Guys, The Big Short, and Anchorman 2. The duo are also working with Jennifer Lawrence on another film titled Bad Blood, an upcoming biography about biotech billionaire Elizabeth Holmes.

A first for Leonardo DiCaprio

According to Deadline, DiCaprio had flirted with a handful of Netflix projects but never fully committed and remained one of the few movie stars in the industry who hadn’t starred in a project produced by a streamer. It is said that he is also starring in Martin Scorcese’s Killers of the Flower Moon alongside Robert De Niro which is being funded by Apple and will hit theaters as well as premiere on Apple TV+ sometime in 2021.

Meanwhile, Don’t Look Up is set to be released on Netflix in 2021 and will follow two low-level astronomers who embark on a media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy Earth.
