Freshlyground, one of South Africa’s most
well-known and well-loved bands will be taking a break during 2020 in order to
focus on their own personal interests and passions.
The band was formed 17 years ago in Cape
Town and is made up of members hailing from different parts of Southern Africa.
Their unique musical style is created through the blending of traditional South African music with blues, jazz and indie rock.
Their success began with the release of 2003 debut album Jika Jika which instantly became a national hit. Since then, Freshlyground has performed all around the world, entertaining presidents and sharing a stage with musical legend Miriam Makeba.
Taking a break
The band has enjoyed 17 years of successful music-making and has decided to take 2020 off in order to pursue personal interests.
As such, Freshlyground is taking their last bookings (for a while) and have a few spots left this year for private and corporate functions and events. Their calendar is quickly filling up, so if you’d like to book the band for an event this year, now is the time to do it.
