Gen-Z’s teen queen Billie Eilish wants to change the world and make a difference through her music and actions.

All it takes is one person to change the world. And 18-year-old singer-songwriter Billie Eilish is proving that theory correct.

They call five-time Grammy Award winner Billie Eilish the Gen-Z queen and she is living up to her description with her #WhatWeDoNext campaign.

In partnership with telecmmunications firm Deutsche Telekom, the campaign focuses on technology. Specifically it looks at how Gen Z is using technology to create a better future.

Also known as post-millennials, Gen Z is the generation born between 1996 and 2015. They are currently between five and 24 years old.

With media and older people criticising this generation’s use of technology, this campaign is perfect to dispel that.

Billie Eilish wants to use her fame for good

But this is not all Eilish has set out to accomplish.

As an artist, Billie has made waves since her hit single Ocean Eyes in 2016 and has worked to make a name for herself. She has a massive following not only through her music, but also due to her views on the world.

Most artists who are as famous, have a major influence when it comes to fans and what they can accomplish. However, for her age, Eilish has used her fame to make a difference in the world.

At a young age she is focusing on the future. In 2019 at the American Music Awards, she showed her support for the environmental movement Music Declares Emergency.

The teenager performed All the Good Girls Go to Hell as she made her first appearance at the event, and was nominated for six awards.

And while speaking to the LA Times, Billie also shared her frustrations on the current state of the world.

She opened up about her fears of climate change and how it irks her that people are too lazy to do anything about it.

“It’s weird… It feels like we’re living in a movie that you’d watch where the world is like ending.”

“We could stop it, but we’re not going to because everybody’s too lazy…We’re about to die if we don’t change,” she said.

“I’ve had a million dreams about the world ending … It makes you realise how nothing we all are, and how little everyone’s lives matter. Because if the world dies we’re all gone. I want to have children and I want them to have children. That’s possibly not going to happen, and I hate it.”

Los Angeles Olympic Games

The Olympic Games are in Los Angeles in 2028 and the organisers are looking for a logo for the Olympics and Paralympics. Its creative committee commissioned a variety of musicians, athletes and creators who call the city home to design their version of logo.

The committee asked Eilish to take part along with Reese Witherspoon, YouTuber Lilly Singh, artist Steve Harrington and several Olympic athletes, including Adam Rippon and Gabby Douglas.

Eilish was commissioned to play around with the letter “A” in the logo, and offered a neon green, italicised “A” which is like her current hair colour.

She explained her design in a video about the project.

“The font is the font that I use for my logo, and who knows if that’s gonna be relevant in my life in eight years?

“But I have this whole thing about not wanting to please my past self or my future self, it’s all about pleasing your present self. I don’t know what my life is gonna be like in eight years, but I’m really just looking forward to the future.”
