You read that right: This new, soon-to-be-iconic structure is designed with slightly rotated faces, making it look like an enormous version of the popular craze that took the world by storm in the 1980s. It’s a completely unique look, and one that will only add to the modest beauty of the Mother City’s CBD.

What you need to know about The Rubik, Cape Town:

Development is set to begin in June 2019, with completion expected exactly two years later. In the winter of 2021, the movers and shakers of the Cape will be able to invest in residential properties that will give The Rubik its homely feel.

Of course, this building screams opulence, so it needs accommodation that fits the bill: There will also be luxury penthouses that sit atop The Rubik, staring over the majestic panorama only Cape Town can offer. Views of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and the Atlantic Ocean will all be visible through the glass-tiered windows.

What will be inside Cape Town’s new “skyscraper”?

There are also plans for the establishment of office spaces, too. Abland are the developmental brains behind the project, and they’re working in partnership with Nedbank, Giflo and the designers of this ultra-modern structure, dhk Architects.

Did we mention that retail and restaurant franchises may also be located here? Because yes, that’s also happening

“The Rubik combines international living standards with breathtaking nature. This inspiring development with luxurious penthouses, apartments, offices, retail outlets and restaurants is the ultimate place to live and work.”

“Complete with state of the art technology and premium offices, this is designed for those who make their mark on the world. The Rubik offers extraordinary city views, 24-hour security, ample parking and every modern convenience.”
