Rapper AKA teased fans earlier in the year hinting that he
was up to something when he flew down to the Reebok Head Quarters in Boston. On
1 October 2019, the singer officially announced a sneaker collaboration with
the brand.

AKA initially caused a sneaker collaboration speculation when he teased that he was working with Reebok Classic. At the time some images were shared during his trip.

Once in a while, the rapper would take to Instagram to post about Reebook. He usually never gave much away by only posting some of Reebok’s silhouettes.

AKA also shared that he designed the shoe with his younger
brother nickyheat__. He

and “Mega” written out separately on each shoe. He also revealed that the shoe
would be called the ‘SneAKA.’

The “Fela In Versace” rapper has been the Face of Reebok Classic AFRICA for the clothing brand since 2017. The deal was quite big and involved seven-figures.

The global campaign included Americans:
hip-hop star Future, supermodel Gigi Hadid and rap duo Rae Sremmurd. The brand
has also had partnerships with other international and influential artists in the
music industry.

They’ve worked with Tyga, Kendrick Lamar,
and Cam’ron.

In part of his social media caption, AKA
wrote that he was taking the new sneaker “From AFRICA, to the WORLD.” He also
shared that the collaboration had taken “many years” to fulfill.

Fans are loving the AKA’s announcement

Fans have shown their support on social
media sharing how they would buy the shoe when it comes out. The hashtag #TheSneAKA
has been trending.

A fan wrote:

More information on the sneaker should come to light as we get closer to the launch date. So far, Reebok hasn’t revealed anything from their side, leaving the suspense until the last moment.
