2019 Elections: Voting rewards

Discounted on Uber rides

Uber confirmed that they teamed out with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and the Nelson Mandela Foundation to give R25 off on trips to and from the polling stations on 8 May.

Getting your discounted Uber trips is as simple as opening the Uber app and adding the VOTESA19 promo code. Complete your booking as usual, and the discount will automatically be loaded.

The promo code will get you two free rides – to the polling station and back – and is open to new and existing Uber drivers. The code is only valid between 7:00 and 21:00 to voters in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Ekhuruleni, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban.

Free coffee from Wimpy

Wimpy will keep you caffeinated on the day. Just show them your ink, and you’ll get a coffee on the house. Wimpy marketing executive, Jacques Cronje, explained:

“The free cups of coffee that we will be given to voters on Wednesday, 8 May are a token of appreciation to South Africans that are participating in the country’s democracy. Voting isn’t something that ought to be taken lightly, considering the history of our country — hence, we encourage everyone to make their voices heard these #SAElections2019.”

Cronje adds that your motivation to vote should, however, be about more than just getting a free coffee. It should be a “testament to just how seriously South Africans take their democracy and elections.” But a free cup of coffee won’t hurt, either.

R15 off on a boerewors roll from Checkers

Voting is hard work, we know. Stop by Checkers on the way home to keep the hunger pangs at bay. The supermarket promises to give you an R15 ‘Voters’ boerewors roll’ for your voting efforts.

All you need to do to qualify is show the ink stain on our thumb at your nearest store. The special is valid for 8 May only.
