Drake did what he does best and swept the floor clean at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, becoming the new king of the awards ceremony that took place at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
As reported by Billboard, the Canadian megastar made history at this year’s BBMAs when he came home with 12 awards on the night, bringing his total to 27, more than any other artist has ever received.
2019 Billboard Music Awards: Drake makes history
One would think Taylor Swift, who just dropped her single, Me!, would have added more to her tally of 23, but the 6 god has had a phenomenal 2018.
After releasing his seventh LP, Scorpion, featuring chart-toppers like Nice For What and God’s Plan, Drake went on to pick up the coveted Best Rap Song award at the Grammy’s.
He also racked up hundreds of millions of dollars after a sold-out world tour that featured the likes of Tory Lanez, J Cole and other A-list superstars.
Staying true to his character of always being in the know of what’s trending in pop culture, Drake took the time to give a shoutout to a true heroine — Arya Stark (a Game of Thrones character played by Maisie Williams).

The rapper paid tribute to the most talked about moment in TV history in his acceptance speech for the Top Billboard 200 Album award.
Arya, in episode three of the epic TV series, shocked the entire world when she ended the Long Night by shoving a valerian steel blade in the Night King’s abdomen, ending the battle of Winterfell.
Drizzy, like all of us Arya stans, recognised this and gave her a shout-out. You can watch it below:
